AirBeam Pro App Reviews

Does Not Work as Advertised

Previous versions of this app worked flawlessly. The current version (Running on a Mid 2015 15” MacBook Pro w/a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7 processor) makes this app absolute rubbish. Motion detection works occasionally but with no real practical purpose. Also, any motion captured by the camera appears as some kind of mocked-up thermal camera. This makes any moving object (i.e. person, animal, car, etc.) detected/captured by the camera almost impossible to identify unless standing completely still (kind of redundant for “motion detection"). This is especially frustrating if you want to use the app for surveillance purposes. I looked through the settings for a way to turn this feature off with no luck. Perhaps most frustrating of all, the notification (by email) function seems to be entirely broken in this version. I spent over 2 hours trying to get the notifications working with no luck. I will try contacting Appologics support to see if their is a solution and post back. Until then, be advised: this app should at the very least not be called “Pro” for the lack of features/functionality.

Unstable & slow

In conjunction with the iOS app, it occasionally works ok, but more often is extremely slow and produces choppy or stalling video at any setting even on a fast network. Worse, the OS X app frequently crashes.

Work great!

Works very well, very responsive. I would recommend that you have an option of selecting the MJPEG mode manually as it has far lower latency than the h.264 encoding for iPhone. It would be nice to have a switch. Also, it would be great to see Syphon "send" as well as receive so you can send syphon content through it. Finally, please note that not all webcams are supported. I was hoping to use something like camstudio to send with it, and this was not possible. It seemed that not all cameras are supported. But as is, it works great! Definitely a steal of a deal too.

AirBeam

Works as advertised. Relativly easy to set up. AirBearm Pro on a MacPro does not see cameras automatically on the same nework. Works well if you know the Camera’s IP address. iPad and iPhone find all cameras fast. The inteface is un cluttered. All in All a good app.

Simple and easy to use

AirBeam is easy to use and connect to your camera to monitor from your Mac - PC in no time.

Paid App Unreliable - Not Stable

Video stream is frequently interrupted while audio continues. Frequent application aborts and restarts are required to maintain video for more than a few minutes or even seconds. Hopefully the vendor will address these sometime in the future. Consider alternatives before investing.

Impressive performance, and much needed

I originally tried the standard AirBeam app, which in itself is a useful way to stream from an iOS device to ones computer. AirBeam Pro is even more impressive and provides a much needed new way to stream from a computer back to the iOS app. There is no configuration needed to find your computer and get it streaming to your iOS device on a shared network. Doing this remotely over the Internet would require some configuration, but I havent tried it. AirBeam Pro makes using a computer elsewhere in the house as a nanny-cam -- which was what I needed -- easy, reliable, and well worth every penny.

A must have app for iPhone, iPad and Mac

Ive tested Airbeam and Airbeam Pro and own both. Both applications work flawlessly and the developer support is fast and helpful. You really cant ask much more than that. I find Airbeam to be a stable and reliable app and Ive intergrated it successfully into some of my productions. Ill look forward to what else this dveloper brings to market.

Works well

This app seems to work really well. Its easy to start using, with virtually no set up needed. I havent tried all the features yet, but so far what I have used has worked without any problems. I would like to see some additional features, though, such as a date and time stamp for the recordings.

I love this app!

This app works as advertised. It is really easy to set up and even easier to use! If youre looking for a way to monitor your pets when youre away, this is a great tool. Thank you Appologics!!!

Poor

I bought it reading the review. But I am sorry, I cannot give five stars. The video quality is poor. It is impossible to know where the video recording is saved, nor to have option where to save it. It look like it saves the recording automatically in Quick time format, but Quick time do not recognize the format, nor VLC. I could see back what was recorded. Maybe should also some options about it. I have the supposedly "pro" version. Nothing could qualify it of being "pro".

Doesnt work

I have Mountain Lion on Retina Mac Book Pro and the app keeps blowing up. I restart it and as soon as I try to connect to a camera it dies. I wish it would work.

DPS

I love this app - the only think missing is email alerts with motion detection. I would also like to see them support mulitipul cameras. Easy to use and it works great.

Great baby monitor

Works great as baby monitor.

Update required!

No multi camera support? Its not a problem when you have only one camera but you cannot see all from one camera angle in one room. At least 4 USB cameras should be supported. The Logitech Vision Pro 9000 is nut fully supported (max. 640x480). It is still one of the best Mac / OSX compatible HD webcams on the market with the best image quality. In AirBeam she becomes the worst because of missing support.

awesome program for what I need

I wanted a cheap system to view my newborn puppies whil Im not at work ahd this program is perfect for those with all mac stuff! I can view it on the web all day at work and when Im out I can check on my pups on my iPhone. The best is that you can hook up an after-market camera to your mac and shoot live video from it!

Reliability?

Great concept and low cost, but reliability not good. Video dispaly is lost often, even with excellent wifi network.

Very good overall

Bought the pro version to use as a pet monitor. The video quality of recordings is excellent. Was a lot easier to get working than others and pretty much does what I want with some quibbles Id love to see in an updated version: - sometimes the entire app freezes when I hit Record from a monitoring computer - seems to be a latency issue in the recordings. After a few seconds the audio is out of sync with the video and gets progressively worse. Maybe its just my machine, not sure. - would be nice to have a timestamp on the screen - would like the monitoring screen on regular Macs to be stripped down version like whats on the mobile devices. Dont need the big buttons, big logo always on the screen when monitoring from work. - Support page is lacking, would be helpful to have a forum.

Very impressive

I am extremely impressed with this inexpensive video and audio security system my Macs have become. I like that I can set the motion sensitivity even to pick up reflections and monitor a larger area. I wish I could choose whether I want both Macs to alarm simultaneously, or just the one detecting the motion. Id like to know in which part of the house the intruder is. Since it relies on the Macs built-in camera, mike, and speakers, I leave a light on to catch a clear video or the intruder. But this system rocks! My Macs fight back and scream blazing police sirens (one of five sound choices) at any motion (or sound, if I choose). Theyre not only protecting themselves, but the whole house! Brave, fighting Macs!
